13 Nov Clean It Up // Beautycounter
Happy Friday, everyone!
I have never been one to stick to a skin regimen… I’ve been blessed enough to never have to. I’ve never had problem skin [except during my first trimester] so I’ve always just taken my makeup off, put on moisturizer and called it a night. But as I get older, I’m noticing changes in my skin and I know I need to take steps to keep those changes from getting worse and worse…
Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in your body? It soaks up everything you put on it and even stuff that’s in the air! I’m a cosmetics snob and I love my makeup products, but when I started reading about the ingredients that they put in skincare and cosmetic items and what they can do to me, I became hesitant to want to use them anymore! From dyes in the eyeshadows, blushes and lipsticks to carcinogenic chemicals in face-washes and moisturizers, I thought that there HAD to be a better way to take care of your skin, right?
A friend reached out to me with a better way about a month ago. She introduced me to Beautycounter. And I’m now obsessed.
Beautycounter is a company that was founded upon the belief that there should be a better, cleaner option for those who want to take care of their skin. The founder started the company when she realized that 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will get cancer and that many of the toxins that cause it can be found in skincare products. So she went about finding a way to create a product that worked, yet didn’t contain harmful toxins and chemicals. They now have a body care line, children’s line, skincare for the face and a full makeup line!! Beautycounter’s first priority is education, which I love. The selling of their products comes second to ensuring that people understand the potential consequences of putting harmful materials directly onto their skin.
When my friend reached out to me about trying Beautycounter for the first time, I’m not going to lie… I rolled my eyes… Even though their products align perfectly with my lifestyle [the whole idea of clean-living is one I strive to live by], I still had the thought, “Yeah, it’s all-natural, which is great, but does it work? Most all-natural stuff doesn’t.” [Like I said… I’m a snob.] She dropped off the products and I went ahead and tried them. After one night of using them, I knew I wanted to incorporate them into my daily life. I’ve been washing my face with their Countertime wash and moisturizers and here’s my skin after just one week compared to my skin [wearing a tinted moisturizer] a few weeks before:
You can see in the photo to the left that, even under a tinted moisturizer, my skin is drier and my freckles/sun spots are more defined. The circles under my eyes are significantly better, but that could be a direct result of better hydration, too!
This started a big movement in me… I’ve already chosen my New Year’s Resolution… I’m going to work to eliminate ALL harmful chemicals and toxins from my home completely! Clean eating is no longer enough. I want to do everything I can to take care of myself, my body, my family and my home. I’m starting with my skincare and the products I provide for my husband and B to wash up with [because I’m the one who’s doing all the shopping for that stuff…] I’m tossing out my old stuff [in baby steps] and bringing in the new, starting with skincare and moving onto cleaning supplies]. Follow me with this movement and let me know if you want to do it too!
Here are my favorite Beautycounter products. Remember to list Chandler Hatchett as your consultant and I’ll send you a special something to tell you how proud I am that you’re taking this step with me!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
