December FitPicks // Virtual Hot Chocolate Date

My December FitPicks are inspired by my favorite drink right now – hot chocolate! I’m loving light pinks, browns and creams for December’s winter fitness wear! I’m currently wearing this cozy outfit consisting of pale pink leggings and a cream sweater from Fabletics, so I’m definitely feeling this color scheme and I want to purchase everything in this post, but Christmas is here and my budget is running REALLY thin. Nonetheless, Christmas is right around the corner and I’m SO excited to spend it with my family!

Since we have our monthly virtual coffee [let’s make that a hot chocolate] date – aka, ur time to check in with each other and catch up, I have a lot to fill you in on since last month. My November coffee date catch up was pretty somber, as it came almost at the end of one of the most trying months I’ve had in a long time! From family emergencies to chairing charity galas, to the whole family being sick… twice, to transitioning to a new nanny, to a personal health scare, November was chalk-full of challenges to overcome and emotions to work through. Needless to say, I was ready to welcome December when it arrived and I’m happy to report that this month has been a wonderful end to a busy yet amazing year!

Good News #1: We found a new nanny and she is WONDERFUL. B adores her and asks all the time when she’s coming back. She’s been visiting every now and then and will begin full time in the new year! B’s reaction to our old nanny leaving was definitely hard on us all – I can only imagine how he was processing the entire thing. He’s usually pretty go-with-the-flow, but it was as if he decided to take control of anything and everything he could after she left. Plus, two viruses in two weeks is more than enough for an adult, much less an almost-3 year old. With a lot of patience and consistency [and a serious amount of boundaries in place], he’s back to his old, happy-go-lucky self and his mommy sure is happy!

Good News #2: I failed my initial glucose tolerance screening test, which about sent me over the edge. I don’t know why, but I felt so guilty – as if I had done something to harm my unborn daughter. After 5 long days of waiting [and some sulking, to be honest], I went back in for a 4 hour glucose challenge test and I’m happy to say that I passed! Even if I hadn’t, I am so grateful to live in a time when there are doctors who can monitor for things like this and help me give my unborn baby the best chance at a healthy and thriving life after delivery! Then, last week, I had a sonogram that confirmed that my sweet little girl is growing big and strong, even if I’m not gaining much weight [which was another concern], so I have been on cloud nine ever since! I’m now in my 3rd trimester and I can’t wait to meet my little girl!!

Good News #3: I released my first book, A Proverb A Day, just in time for Black Friday! I’ve been blown away by the sales so far! There are even girls who are 21 days through the challenge because they began it on December 1st!

Good News #4: I realized that I need rest, so I cancelled some big events I had coming up and I spent some time focusing on my rest and recovery – and it paid off. Even though I cancelled some things [including some workshops I was really excited to lead], I still made it down to Waco to host and lead a New Year’s Resolution workshop for the Baylor Kappas! We had the best time and I was so blessed by the experience! I have a feeling that slowing things down around the holidays, plus allowing myself to rest on our upcoming vacation, will allow me to begin 2018 energized and ready to go!

Good News #5: Christmas is here! Tomorrow, we leave for Beaver Creek, CO with my entire family! We will have 12 people crammed into a tiny townhouse for a good, long time and I could not be more excited! I love this season and I can’t wait to get up to the mountains and slow down a bit with the people I love the most! B will be participating in ski school for the first time, too, which I can’t even express how excited I am for that!

That’s my update. What’s going on in your world? Fill me in! How will you be spending Christmas?
