13 Jul Lashes By Lola // My FAB Eyelash Extensions
Happy Hump Day!
Last week I did something HUGE for me… I got eyelash extensions, y’all. And let me tell you… they are A-MAZING! As someone who was terrified of the process, I wanted to share my experience with you and what I’ve learned about lashes in case you want a real-life opinion for yourself! Let me just start with this… If you’re in Dallas and you have been wanting to get eyelash extensions, call Lola at Lashes By Lola… trust me… I’m a believer now! You can find her on facebook or head over to her website for more information.

Here’s a recap of my experience with Lashes By Lola:
Eyelash extensions have always terrified me. I’d heard horror stories about girls going to “Lash Boutiques” and ultimately losing every natural lash they had and literally becoming eye-bald! I have had several friends get their done for a few years now and I was always intrigued by their gorgeous, no-mascara-needing, butterfly, goddess eyelashes… but also scared to be ultimately eye-bald. ugh. Over the past week weeks, though, I’ve been frustrated with my little, blonde nubbies. If I didn’t take the time to put on a little mascara, I looked eye-bald with my natural lashes. I’ve just never been blessed with great lashes [now my head of hair is another thing, so I’ll take my good hair over lashes any day! You gotta take the good with the bad!]
Seriously… look at my before photo compared to my lashes after:
I told you.. NUBS turned to beautiful, Butterfly Lashes from HEAVEN!! I don’t know what I was so scared of!
Actually, I do… Apparently, those little pop-in, lash boutiques kind of have a bad rap! BUT, if you go to a highly-trained lash specialist, you can have beautiful lashes and save your natural ones, too! [I’ve learned a lot over the past week, but it works a lot like getting your hair done… you’re not going to go just anywhere to have your hair done, most people want to go to someone who specializes in color or who knows their preferences and will perform accordingly…] I finally caved and decided to reach out to my friend, Kathleen, who has gorgeous lash extensions. She gave me Lola’s number and I’m super grateful!
Lashes By Lola is in Richardson, which was only about a 25 minute drive from my house. She works in a beautiful space with natural light and a comfortable table to lie down on. Before I came in, she wanted to do a phone consultation with me since I had never had eyelash extensions before. She gave me a ton of information that made me a lot more comfortable with the process. My biggest concern was permanently losing my lashes, which she assured me would not happen. Apparently you lose lashes every single day… they just fall out and grow back in. She told me that she doesn’t put an extension on the brand new re-growth… she let’s it grow in a bit before adding an extension, which is one reason to go to an eyelash specialist.
I was also concerned about the process… Would it hurt? Would i have to keep my eyes open? How are they applied? Are there needles? She told me all about the process, too, and eased all of my fears. The extensions are glued directly to the eyelash, itself… not the skin. That was something I didn’t know either. That’s how they look so natural! All you have to do is come in and keep your eyes closed the entire time [your first time is an hour and the ‘refill sessions’ are 45 minutes!] She told me that many people just fall asleep!
I didn’t fall asleep, though. Lola at Lashes By Lola is my new best friend… we talked and talked the entire time! She is not only talented, but so very nice and you can tell she’s a genuine person. She and I had our appointment at 9:00am on Friday morning… the morning after the attack on our police officers here in Dallas. I had been crying when I arrived after listening to the radio and our session together was actually pretty cathartic for me, really. She’s wonderful.
How are they now? Take a look! Here I am almost a week later, without a STITCH of makeup on [disclaimer]. They feel completely natural. I wake up and look FABULOUS [mostly]! I don’t need mascara [you can’t wear it anyways] and I have gotten so many compliments from my husband, friends and family! I can wash my face normally and put on makeup normally and it cuts down on my prep time because I don’t feel like I need anything on my eyes besides a little concealer and a tinted moisturizer!
What do you think? I’m officially obsessed.
