The Macro Diaries // Week 5

Hey Guys, I just finished up Week 5 of counting my macros and I’m still loving that I’m seeing results! This week came with some interesting additions, though… Check it out!

Here’s my week 5 update!
Food-wise: Well… this is it. It finally happened… This weekend, I cheated. Saturday was my first big cheat day, as it was my birthday and Sunday was my first Mother’s Day. I tried to calculate my macros, so the number I gave for Saturday was a guesstimate for about how much I ate. Even though I stayed within my macros on Friday and Saturday, the foods I ate weren’t very nutritious and I definitely over-indulged in alcohol.
I’ve had several of you ask me to give an example of a typical day eating while counting my macros, so here’s what I do to get to my numbers (130p/130c/42f):
On my way to school:
Protein shake with J-Robb’s Egg White protein, ice and water (I’ll sometimes add PB2 to give it that peanut butter taste)
Iced coffee with almond milk
Breakfast:
2-3 of my little egg mcmuffins (Check out the recipe here!)
Lunch:
I either eat a portion of last  night’s dinner leftovers, which is usually a meat and a vegetable or rice (today it is chicken and broccoli)
OR
I eat a packet of turkey with mustard… Yes, I know what it sounds like, but I roll the turkey up and dip it in mustard and it’s actually soooo good. I’ll sometimes make a sandwich for lunch, but I make it my goal to eat as much straight protein as possible so I can have whatever I want for dinner (namely, alcohol.)
After School:
Depending on my lunch, I’ll either have a protein shake again or I’ll have some yogurt and berries/granola or even a granola bar.
Almost daily, I cave and eat a mini Butterfinger bar (or 2) since I have them at my desk at school. They really aren’t bad in the macros.
Dinner:
At this point, I’ll eat whatever fulfills my macros. Usually a protein and a carb–I’ll add butter to add some fats if needed. I also add wine if I can.
Emotion-wise: This past week was, hands-down, the hardest week I’ve had as an educator. I work at the high school that is next door to the Curtis Cullwell Center in Garland, where there was an attempted terrorist attack on Sunday. Tuesday, we had to be evacuated because the fire alarm went off, but it was extra-scary because the threat was so high after the incident… Between that and the end of school madness, the kids have been crazy ever since. There’ve been multiple nights where I went home and poured myself a cocktail. I did make it to the gym a few times this week, but, overall, I was so exhausted and stressed.
Sleep-wise: Still the same. Not happening.
Training: I’m actually enjoying my weekly HIIT’s. This week’s HIIT (yesterday) was harder though. There’s no doubt that it was harder because of my food intake over the weekend. I can definitely tell a difference in my WOD’s though… I’m finally starting to feel like my old self during workouts! That’s awesome!
Overall: I’m feeling a little guilty for cheating on Saturday, but I’m still so pleased with my results. I went up in my measurements this morning and I’m sure it’s from sodium intake and dehydration… But I’m still way down on the scale! Only 3 more pounds to lose!
