09 Apr Introducing Baby A!
Well, it’s officially been one month since our baby girl bundle of joy made her debut and it’s safe to say that we are ALL head over heels in love with her. Her arrival was awaited with much anticipation and I can’t tell you how much your kinds words of encouragement, congratulations and love have meant to us over the past few weeks! It’s been a whirlwind of a month, but we could not be happier! I’d like to to take today’s post to introduce you to Baby A!
Baby A was born on March 9th – exactly one week ahead of her due date! I went in for a quick check-up, just to make sure my prodromal labor contractions weren’t making any cervical change before the weekend began [I had just been to the doctor two days before with no change at all] since they had kicked up a notch since Wednesday. Because of my history with this pregnancy, I was certain that nothing would have changed and that I was going to be headed to a spin class within an hour of my appointment, so you can imagine the shock I felt when my doctor looked at me and said “You’re going to have a baby today! Let’s get you downstairs to Labor and Delivery!”
After about 6 hours of active labor [I will tell you all about that later], Baby A was here! She was perfect in every single way! She entered the world at 6:42pm weighing in at 6 pounds 14 ounces and measuring 19″ long! It was only a month ago, but I cannot seem to remember what life was like before her arrival. She has us all wrapped around her ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes – big brother included!
Speaking of Big Brother B, he’s a dream angel sent from heaven! I was so nervous about how this transition would be for him, but he has taken it in stride! He adores his baby sister and is so excited to show her off! Instead of acting out, he’s learned to play by himself and wait patiently [most days]. God is so good and has blessed us with two precious children and we are so honored to be their parents!
Baby A has also been a dream! She latched well immediately – breastfeeding was a breeze [until my supply just STOPPED one day, but that’s my issue, not hers], sleeps well when she’s not hungry and fills PLENTY of dirty diapers! In just her 4 short weeks of life, we’ve had plenty to celebrate – her arrival, her daddy’s birthday and Easter! Big brother started soccer, so she got to enjoy the beautiful, Spring weather at his soccer game, too! We’ve traveled to Austin [twice] and spent a week at home just the three of us while big brother partied with his grandparents!
It’s also been a big change for us, being in charge of two babes! It can get pretty crazy at times, but we are so happy and wouldn’t change a thing!
At one week old [on her due date] we took newborn photos! We worked with Alicia of Twenty-Three Photography and we’re so happy with how they turned out! She’s so talented and patient [we had a newborn hunger strike and a toddler tantrum at the same time DURING the shoot, of course! She’s the baby whisperer, I swear, getting the newborn to calm down and making our big brother giggle enough to get the shots! All of these shots in today’s post are from our session with her! Her work is so amazing, seriously. Check her out!
