13 Apr Party Recap // The H is For… Turns ONE!
On April 1st, this blog turned ONE. While I was thrilled that I’ve made it a whole year, I’ve been over-my-head busy these past few months [I wrote all about it on Monday in this post], so I was honestly a little too tired to celebrate this milestone. At first, I was just going to celebrate with a glass of champagne and a cupcake, but as I thought more about it, I realized that I couldn’t just go home and high five my family members over it. That wouldn’t do it justice.
I started this blog because I wanted to inspire others. I wanted to build a community of women who want to live well in all aspects of life. I wanted to do this because I have been inspired by women in my own community and I wanted to use what they’ve given me to encourage others. This blog has never been about me. It’s been about striving to be more… to be more as a mom, sister, wife, daughter and friend… to make the most of this life through healthy habits, fitness, nutrition, fashion and beauty… to build relationships by opening your home and by investing in those you love… It’s always been about this community… and my, how this community has grown! I’ve been so blessed by all of you and the support you’ve shown in this endeavor!
It wouldn’t do this blog justice to just celebrate alone. I thought more about it and I decided that the best way to celebrate would be to bring this new community I’ve found through this blog together with the community of women who inspired me to start it in the first place. And what better way to turn it full circle than to raise money for The Movemeant Foundation so that our time together could bless other girls in this same way? Done.
This Sunday, almost 50 people showed up to Crossfit White Rock to celebrate one full year of The H is For… with a free Rock Fit class and to help raise money for The Movemeant Foundation! We had the best time sweating and sipping together! The raffle was filled with awesome prizes from Lululemon, ID Life, Beautycounter and CrossFit White Rock! Our sponsors, Simply Fit Meals and Unrefined Bakery had a beautiful spread of yummy meals and cupcakes for everyone to enjoy. Each girl left with a swag bag filled with healthy goodies and coupons from our awesome sponsors! We raised over $300 for The Movemeant Foundation in just raffle tickets alone! YAY!
The workout was awesome, but HARD! We were all sweating, but the energy was amazing! Everyone cheered each other on and lifted each other up! We had girls in high school and women with daughters in high school. We had a woman who had just given birth to twins and a mommy-to-be who was a week past her due date and trying to induce labor! Every woman was working hard and encouraging others. It was the perfect way to celebrate all that this blog and the Movemeant Foundation stand for.
Coach Michelle had us working out in a fun, dynamic Rock Fit workout. We were placed into teams and rotated through movements! The music was pumping and so were our hearts! After the workout was done, we all had a mimosa, breakfast and cupcakes to celebrate our victories! Michelle awarded 5 girls for their endurance and hard work with a surprise and we drew out the raffle items!
Shout out to my awesome hubby for being our water boy! He also helped serve mimosas, set up and tear down the event! Also, a big shout out to Ali from A Dash of Details blog for all your help! She’s an avid RockFitter and was so supportive! She worked the raffle ticket sales and the check in table and her husband took the photos while we worked out!
It was such a fun day and we all had the best time!
