I can’t believe I just completed week 6 out of 8 of counting my macros! On the one hand, I feel like I haven’t been doing this very long and on the other, I’m ready to not count my macros anymore. I can’t decide if I’m over the diet or just over everything in general [confessions of a teacher who’s also a new mom at the end of the school year]. Either way, here’s my week 6 update!
Food-wise: This week was pretty good! I haven’t been eating much during the day, so I need to get better about eating more in the mornings and throughout the day. It’s not ideal to get to the end of the day with a ton of macros to fill, but I didn’t mind that the day that I was able to fit a protein-style burger with fries from In-N-Out for dinner!! Oh french fries, how I love you!
Emotion-wise: This week has been ROUGH. I mean, rough. I’m so tired. Like, I never knew I could be THIS tired. I know other moms warn you, but it’s crazy how tired you can be! I think the LORD must be carrying me through the day because everything, from driving to walking is probably not ideal with this level of exhaustion. The already energy-draining craziness of the end of school coupled with having a four-month-old has hit me hard. I’m really trying to remain positive, but I’m really tired. I’m living for summer break! The end of school is near, though! I can do it!!
Sleep-wise: See above. My amazing husband is such a help too. He gets up with the baby so I can sleep and vice-versa. I’ve learned a lot about teamwork these past few months and I love my husband more and more as we’ve had to rely on each other!
Training: I’ve been to the gym a few times this week and they were pretty good workouts. Yesterday, I did the airdyne machine for my HIIT and I had to lay down afterwords because I pushed so hard. I can’t believe that I’m going to admit that I’m actually enjoying the cardio part of this diet! I am definitely still a fan of horizontal running though… If you’ve seen Pitch Perfect, you know what I mean… Speaking of, I really want to see Pitch Perfect 2… OK, Chandler, back on track.
Overall: I’m at a point emotionally and physically where I’m ready to throw in the towel. Not just with this, but with school and workouts. I’m not going to, though. I need to push forward. I can make it to summer break. I know this time of year is already fatiguing as a teacher, but as a new mom, I’m really at another level. I’ve done a pretty good job keeping to my numbers though and I am still seeing results, which is great! Hopefully this weekend, I can get some rest soon and get a burst of energy for a second wind. I’ll be joining my mom and sister in Napa Valley, California to celebrate my mom’s birthday! YAY!! [Baby is staying home with dad]! I leave Thursday and return next Monday. I will actually have a chance to rest and I will do whatever I can to relax. I just wanted to let you all know that I’m not planning on counting my macros while I’m there. I’m a foodie and I’m going to the best place in the US [in my opinion] for gourmet food and wine and I want to indulge while I’m there.
Hopefully next week’s trip won’t hold me back too much. I’ve worked pretty darn hard for it all to be thrown away! It’ll be interesting to see how it affects my number [both my measurements and my weight] next week. Even though I’ll be indulging in the foods I love, I’m most looking forward to rest.
Born and raised the oldest of five in Austin, Tx, Chandler has always had a vibrant personality and zest for life.
