Throw a Party // Super-B is THREE! // Superhero Birthday Party

How? How is it possible? My sweet baby boy is now THREE years old. THREE. This year, my boy was counting down the days to his birthday and asking me who was coming to his party and even giving me his preferences on the theme! HE KNOWS WHAT A BIRTHDAY IS, Y’ALL!! I’m just blown away by how fast it’s gone, but I have to say that I am loving every single bit of this preschool, three-year-old, boy mom thing. It’s so much fun. I had no idea how much fun the boy stuff could be! This year, my little one is obsessed with superheroes [The Hulk, PJ Masks, Captain America… you name it!] so we went with a superhero birthday party for his third!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I love to throw my son’s birthday parties. We had his first pow-wow when he turned one and then we celebrated again the following year since it wasn’t his first rodeo! While I love to party like a momma-bear, these parties are exhausting – I’ll admit it. This year, being at the end of this pregnancy, I decided to outsource a few of the bigger to-do’s to take some of the load off of my plate and I’ve learned that you can still have an amazing party without all the fuss and decided to share what I learned with you! I wrote about that part of this party here.

Here’s how we celebrated B’s superhero birthday party:

When deciding on what direction to take this superhero birthday party, I decided to focus more on the comic book, pop art superheroes instead of characters. My little one loves Avengers… he also loves every other superhero known to man, so picking a character to go with wasn’t going to work out as well as a generic, superhero theme! Since pop art is fun but not available in party stores like character-themes are, I had to get creative! For the decorations this year, I turned to Etsy and Amazon to find some fun and unique superhero birthday party decor that wouldn’t break the bank!

I started off the search by finding this amazing bundle of custom superhero party designs for CHEAP on Etsy. I loved that the artist was able to customize the invitations, straw flags, food labels, party favor thank-you’s, signs and more to include my son’s name and age! She sent it over to name after a couple of days in a computer file and a friend of mine helped me get them all printed and cut out right!

I found these darling straws and superhero napkins online at Twigs and Twirls. This store has some awesome party options that you haven’t seen everywhere! I also ordered this custom superhero party banner for my boy on Etsy. I found this cityscape photo background and these large pop-art cut-outs online on Amazon and hung them up around the room to make the theme come to life! I ordered some generic plasticware and plates in solid, primary colors and placed these stickers on the yellow cups to make them POP – literally.

For party favors, I found this inexpensive pack of superhero masks and capes! There were enough for each child to take one home – little siblings included! We laid them out over each chair in the party room because I really didn’t think it was a good idea to have anything around the babes’ necks while playing on the equipment in the gym!

For the food, I grabbed a fruit platter and a veggie platter from our local grocery store and separated them into small bowls I had at home. Each bowl was labeled as a different super power for the kids to choose which power they wanted the most of! I also included the ranch dip and yogurt dips, too. We ordered pizza from our favorite, local pizza place because who doesn’t love pizza? Some small water bottles and apple juice boxes were tossed into the ice bucket and we had a cooler-full of sodas and full-sized waters for the adults!

I always have Tram Anh’s Treats make the desserts for parties I throw and she truly outdid herself this time around. The cake was DARLING and gluten free! She hand-cut out each little blue dot of fondant for the pop art design on the cake. She also made the amazing superhero cookies! The desserts were a hit and I know my sweet little B felt so special blowing out his candles on a cake that amazing! Side note… Tram Anh was a student of mine and has become a sweet friend! I just adore her!

We held the party at White Rock Cheer and Tumble to ensure that the kids were supervised and able to get their energy out in a fun and safe way! The people at the gym were easy to work with and helped make the party perfect in every way! The kids practiced their superhero skills before heading to the party room where they got to fuel up on their super powers and get their very own capes and masks! It truly made for the most amazing superhero birthday party!
