25 Apr What We Wore // Tulle Skirt and Baby Chucks
Hello! It’s Monday. It’s overcast. It’s okay. Because I am sharing an outfit today that makes me so happy! I love wearing this outfit because it totally brings me back to my childhood! It makes me feel like I’m back to playing dress up and I just want to twirl around in this skirt on an imaginary stage like a ballerina princess!
Okay… maybe not quite. But I do feel DAMN cute wearing this outfit. I mean, who says you’re too old for a tulle skirt?
I have to say that this look is completely pinterest-inspired. I was actually terrified to wear this tulle skirt from Bliss Tulle when I first got it, thinking “I don’t know if I can pull this off…” I was afraid that I’d look like a weirdo walking around in a tulle skirt, but I was wrong… as least, I think I was wrong… damn… what if I am wrong? What if I think I look great and you’re all just giggling at these photos?!
… NAAWWWW. I look cute.
I paired this skirt with a knotted chambray shirt to dress it down a bit. I’ve been wanting to find a lace crop top that I can put with it, but I haven’t found one I love just yet. Also, I had a baby, so there’s just a little something… extra… in my belly region and I just can’t picture a little love popping up over a tulle skirt to give off the same look, right? We’ll see… I added a nude-ish pink high heal to the look to pull it all together. I felt like I was wearing a lot of clothes, so I opted to pull my hair back into a 1950’s-Barbie inspired ponytail. 1950’s is right… I felt like a cool, modern Sandy from Grease…. well, the good-girl Sandy instead of the leather-pants-and-cigarette Sandy… more like Sandra Dee gone vogue, yeah. Funny story about Grease… my best childhood friend, Anna, and were out at a karaoke place and wanted to do our obviously well-rehearsed over the past 15 years rendition of “Summer Lovin'” for the listening and viewing pleasure of everyone there… Anna wrote our song choice down on a piece of paper and turned it in. The Karaoke DJ then announced to the entire bar that she had spelled what should have been ‘Grease’ as ‘Greece’… It’s not that funny, but we still laugh about it… In fact, I’m laughing about it now… OKAY, back to what I was saying…
Are you still with me?
This look is super fun, girly and cool! It’s great to wear to a celebration, like a birthday party, baby shower or a brunch with the girls!
Back to my point in the second paragraph… I think this look is cute. And if I don’t look cute, please don’t tell me. Ignorance is bliss, right? If I don’t look cute, at least I know that my boy sure does! I mean, does it get ANY cuter than a little, pink polo, cuffed jeans and baby high-tops? I can’t handle the cuteness of this child… he just melts my heart!
B is walking everywhere… scratch that. B is RUNNING everywhere. While I care about how cute my child dresses, I care more that he is comfortable and can easily move in his clothing. I also want him to be steady and I don’t want his shoes to trip him up. He LOVES his Chuck Taylor Converse high tops! He can run and play in them all day long. I love them, too, because they’re just so dad-gum CUTE!! This pink sailboat polo from Janie and Jack is so cute on him AND it’s on sale!
Both, my skirt and B’s polo aren’t link-able, so click on the links to shop them. My heels are very old and I honestly, couldn’t find any that were just like them, so I linked a nude pump instead, but everything else is here, in case you wanted to check them out!
Have a great day!
